One Thousand Tracings: Healing the Wounds of World War II

One Thousand Tracings: Healing the Wounds of World War II written and illustrated by Lita Judge, published by Hyperion Books for Children, 2007.   After discovering 1000 foot tracings on yellowed paper buried in her grandmother's attic, Lita Judge wrote this tribute to her Mid-western American family who had matched those tracings with shoes to send to German families after World War II. This became a network of families helping from the U.S., so that ultimately thousands of people on both sides of the Atlantic were touched by this humane and remarkable process. Honor Book for Younger Children, 2008.
